I have a small, one man shop/studio 6 miles east of Carson City, Nevada. With a view of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and wild horses at my doorstep, I apply my skills as a classically trained Master Machinist and a lifelong Artist in this most relaxing of environments.
As a machinist I have the skills to produce and reproduce anything. I work from sketches, prints and even existing or broken parts. I have made things for the oil and aviation industries as well as homeowners. From 20 foot rings for aerospace to door locks and keys for a custom house and even missing parts for antique automobiles, I enjoy my ability to make things and the pride of ownership my items give the customer.
It is one thing to repair an old lock, for instance, but to understand how it was made 800 years ago gives me the ability to repair it to a point that it looks its age with no sign of the repairs and will function as it should for another 800 years.
I have built and rebuilt many machines both metalworking and woodworking. I have built assembly machinery such as pick-n-place and ultra sonic welders. Spending many years as an experimental machinist for the biomedical industry I have used my artistic skills in concert with my machining skills to produce models and prototype items with function, ergonomics and esthetics all blended into a single package.
As an artist I have worked for and helped build a bronze foundry gaining much experience in the field that helps me produce my own bronze sculptures.
I work in many mediums and with many materials, such as wood, bronze and other metals, plastics, resins, bone, stone and cement. Sculpting, carving, engraving and turning these materials into artistic forms in any style from Prehistoric to Ultramodern, realistic to fantasy, I enjoy it all and I would hope it shows in my work.
The blending of these skills has given me a unique ability to see and do things with emotionally content and precision.
